Emanuel van den Broeke

Dr. Emanuel van den Broeke is a post-doctoral research fellow working in the field of pain neurophysiology at the Institute of Neuroscience at UCL in Brussels, Belgium. His research focusses on activity-dependent plasticity in nociceptive pathways, with a particular focus on the phenomenon central sensitisation. His research involves both healthy human volunteers and patients. Dr. van den Broeke has published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers in international scientific journals and has organized workshops and gave presentations at several important international scientific congresses, such as the World Congress of Pain and the Pain Congress of the European Pain Federation (EFIC). Dr. van den Broeke obtained several prestigious prizes and grants such as the EFIC-Grünenthal prize, the Queen Elizabeth Medical Foundation (QEMF) for Neurosciences grant and the European Society for Anaesthesiology (ESA)-British Journal of Anaesthesia (BJA) grant.
